Colorado state located in the Rocky Mountain region of the United States of America. Colorado state of the west central United States. It was admitted as the 38th state in the 1876. First explored by the Spanish in 16th and 17th centuries, the region was added to the United States through the Louisiana Purchase in 1803 and a cession by Mexico 1848.



Colorado Territory was organized in the 1861. Denver is the capital and the largest city. Population of Colorado 4,860,000. Colorado became a state on 1 August 1876. The expansion of the railroads across the plains and into the mountains, and the subsequent increase in economic linkages, state's population quickly grew. In the 1870 there were 40,000 people in the Colorado Territory by 1880, the population increased to over 194,000.
Climate of Colorado is quite complex compared to the most of the United States. The typical south north cooler warmer variation in other states is not generally applicable in Colorado. Mountains and the surrounding valleys greatly affect the local climate. An increase in elevation come a decrease in temperature and an increase in precipitation.

Weather is a common occurrence in the Colorado. Thunderstorms are common east of the Continental divide in the spring and summer and the Colorado is one of the leading states in deaths due to lightning. Hail is a common sight in the mountains east of the divide and in the northwest part of the state. Population of Colorado's is predominately Christian, although it has a high percentage of religiously unaffiliated residents like most other Western states. Colorado and specifically the City of Colorado Springs serves as the headquarters of numerous Christian groups many of them Evangelical.

Federal government is also major economic force in the state with many importantS federal facilities including the NORAD, United States Air Force Academy and the Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, NOAA and National Institute of Standards and Technology in Boulder, U.S. Geological Survey and other government agencies at the Denver Federal Center in Lakewood, the Denver Mint, Buckley Air Force Base and the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver and a federal Supermax Prison and the other federal prisons near Canon City.
